PARAGON BIOMEDICAL ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF DATA OPERATIONS SERVICES

Irvine, CA – Wednesday, October 3, 2007

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA // October 3, 2007 - Leveraging its continued success in global data operations, Paragon Biomedical, Inc., a U.S.-based contract research organization (CRO) that manages global Phase I-IV clinical trials, today announced the expansion of its data management, statistical programming, and statistical analysis capabilities in the U.S., as well as the appointment of two new senior leaders to spearhead its expanding global data operations.

Mark Harvill, Paragon’s President and Chief Operating Officer, named Marianne Plaunt, PhD, as its new vice president, global data operations, and Nfii Ndikintum, PhD, MBA, as the new director, global biostatistics and SAS programming.

“Both Dr. Plaunt and Dr. Ndikintum will play key roles as our company continues its strategic focus on the growth and expansion of data services to our current and prospective U.S.-based clinical trial sponsors,” Harvill said. “They bring to our U.S. and global customers the benefit of considerable industry knowledge, exceptional leadership abilities, and a concentrated depth of experience in integrated data solutions - all of which will support and augment the work of our existing data operations team.”

Dr. Plaunt will lead the growth, development and management of the global data operations division, where she will be responsible for providing senior technical / consulting support, global operations management, and client interface.

Dr. Plaunt brings to Paragon more than 22 years of experience in clinical research in the academic, applied research and pharmaceutical related industries. She has extensive experience in budget and resource planning, business development and product development, and has been frequently published in industry books and journals.

Most recently, Dr. Plaunt served as vice president of data management for a global firm that provides integrated data solutions to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. She has served as a research manager for an advanced diagnostics, and as a research manager/senior scientist for a leading laboratory services firm.

Dr. Plaunt earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Minnesota and her bachelor’s degree in biology from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

Dr. Ndikintum will be responsible for the supervision, coordination and delivery of Paragon’s global Statistical programming and biostatistical services. Dr. Ndikintum brings 13+ years experience in performing statistical analyses and Statistical programming, including expertise in devising analysis plans, designing clinical trials, performing statistical analyses, generating randomization codes, performing sample-size estimations for study protocols, writing statistical methods section of study protocols and writing statistical reports for phase I-IV pharmaceutical clinical trial research.

In addition, Dr. Ndikintum is experienced in performing and interpreting pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analyses, participating in and contributing to Data Safety Monitoring Boards, and writing Standard Operating Procedures. He holds a Ph.D. in Biostatistics; an MBA with a concentration in International Business and Quantitative Analysis; and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
