Gena H. Reed - CEO & Founder
Gena H. Reed

Before founding Paragon Biomedical, Gena Reed worked in the pharmaceutical industry where she held positions in Pharmaceutical Sales Management, Consumer Products Sales Management, and Human Resources at Merrell National, Merrell Dow and Marion Merrell Dow. While at Merrell Dow, she was one of five individuals selected to start a new health promotion business. Throughout her career, Gena has been actively involved in professional and community-based groups and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Girls Incorporated, a national non-profit youth organization. Gena received the 1998 Orange County Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Healthcare, and on October 14, 2005, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) honored as Business Woman of the Year 2005. Gena holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Mark Harvill - President and Chief Operating Officer
Mark  Harvill

As Paragon's President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mark Harvill is responsible for leading the company's global operation, including clinical and data operations, marketing and business development, business and financial services, human resources, information technology, and quality operations. Mark joined Paragon in September 2006, bringing more than 12 years of CRO industry experience to the organization. He previously served as senior vice president of an international data services CRO, where he directed global project management, business development, and strategic customer relationships management. Before entering the CRO field, Mark was with The Financial Relations Board, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of investor relations programs for companies in the biotechnology and healthcare industries. Mark earned a master's degree in journalism with an emphasis in investor relations from Michigan State University, and a bachelor's degree in public relations from Oklahoma Christian University.

Carol A. Abel - Chief Financial Officer & Vice President, Administration
Carol A. Abel

During the past 12 years, Carol Abel has held professional positions that have exposed her to many different aspects of the Contract Research Organization (CRO) and pharmaceutical industries. In her current role as Paragon’s Chief Financial Officer, Carol oversees the finance, contracts, bids and proposals, and project analysis functions. She is a proponent of Open Book Management, a philosophy of empowering others through constant communication, training and easy access of understandable, applicable financial data. Before joining Paragon, Carol worked in the public accounting industry for 12 years and served as a consultant in the real estate, manufacturing, CRO, and healthcare industries. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.

Allison McCormick - Vice President, North American Clinical Operations
Allison  McCormick

As Vice President, North American Clinical Operations, Allison McCormick oversees the delivery of exceptional global project management services consistently to Paragon clients. She is also responsible for establishing and maintaining a corporate Quality Management System. Allison brings to Paragon her visionary leadership and 20 years of clinical business experience in the CRO and pharmaceutical arena. She is experienced in fiscal/operations management, all phases of the clinical development process, quality assurance/quality control, process development and improvement and training. Allison earned a bachelor's degree in health psychology from University California Irvine, California.

Louise Eggleton - Vice President, European Clinical Operations
Louise  Eggleton

As Vice President, European Operations, Louise Eggleton brings 20 years of global operations leadership and clinical trial management experience to the leadership of Paragon’s European operations professionals.

Louise’s leadership roles at pharmaceutical companies and clinical research organizations have given her the refined tools, expertise, and insights needed to assure our clients’ interests are safeguarded at every step of the development continuum. Louise’s experience spans all phases of Phase I - IV clinical trials, quality, and training.

Before joining Paragon, she was Vice President of Clinical Operations at a global CRO, and prior to that, she held project management and leadership roles at a leading global pharmaceutical company. Louise’s healthcare career began when she qualified as a nurse for Hammersmith Hospital, London.

In addition to providing leadership of Paragon’s European operations staff, Louise works closely with members of Paragon’s executive team to create and launch the strategies, processes, and structures required to maintain Paragon’s growth trajectory in a highly competitive market.

Marianne Plaunt, PhD - Vice President, Global Project Services
Marianne  Plaunt, PhD

As Vice President, Global Project Services, Marianne Plaunt, PhD, leads the growth, development and management of Paragon’s global data operations division, where she is responsible for providing senior technical / consulting support, global operations management, and client interface. She also supports Paragon’s business development activities in relation to data operations, including proposal and budget input / development and client presentations. Dr. Plaunt brings to Paragon more than 22 years of experience in clinical research. She is experienced in budget and resource planning and product development, and she is credited with writing nine peer-reviewed publications, two book chapters, and 12 scientific abstracts. Dr. Plaunt served as vice president of data and director of data management for a global firm that provides integrated data solutions to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Dr. Plaunt earned a Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

Clareece West - Vice President, Global Business Development
Clareece  West

As Paragon's Vice President, Global Business Development, Clareece is responsible for the supervision, coordination and delivery of Paragon's global development strategies and plans, including proposals, marketing and sales initiatives. Clareece joined Paragon in late January 2009, bringing more than 20 years of experience in clinical research, sales and marketing to the company, along with a successful track record in operations and global business development management. Throughout her career, Clareece has held key management and progressively responsible positions within global CROs and healthcare companies, advancing steadily by demonstrating superior sales and management skills. In addition to her CRO and healthcare experience, Clareece served as President of the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Eye Bank, a nonprofit organization serving the Greater Kansas City area. She is a founding member of the Women's Capital Connection and the Mid America Angel Investors, an investment network dedicated to identifying and funding the most promising start-up business opportunities in the Midwest Region. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Missouri Western State University.

Marie Hanley - Executive Director, Global Regulatory & Quality Services
Marie  Hanley

Marie Hanley has 21 years of experience in Clinical Research, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Process Improvement, and Quality Assurance. She began her career as a research nurse and study coordinator and later held positions as a Clinical Research Associate at NeoRx Corp. and Manager of Clinical Affairs and Data Management at ProCyte Corp. Marie joined Paragon in 1995 and has served the company in a number of professional capacities. Marie is a champion of process improvement and has played a key role in the company’s international expansion and the integration of internal and global business processes. Marie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and completed post-graduate work in Biostatistics.

Kelly McIntosh - Executive Director, Global Human Resources
Kelly  McIntosh

Kelly McIntosh has more than 15 years of progressive human resources leadership experience in such diverse industries as healthcare, financial services and distribution. For the past eight years, Kelly has served in senior management roles where she has been responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources. She has been instrumental in restructuring compensation and benefit programs, spearheading recruitment initiatives, and establishing an organizational development function that initiated a company-wide customer service campaign. Kelly has served as a leadership coach in managing highly sensitive human resource issues and implemented an online open enrollment benefits program. Kelly holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management.

Ray Dawkins, MD - Executive Medical Director
Ray  Dawkins, MD

Dr. Dawkins has nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare and clinical research. His Phase I-IV clinical trial experience encompasses major therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular, infectious disease, immunology, endocrinology, hematology, gastroenterology, and dermatology.

Before joining Paragon, Dr. Dawkins was Senior Medical Director at a global biotherapeutic and biotechnology company where he led global research teams planning, implementing, leading and evaluating global projects researching large molecule therapeutics and medical devices for the treatment of cardiovascular indications.

His comprehensive experience includes resourcing, budgeting, data and study management, statistics, programming, SAE reporting, trend analysis, safety signaling and medical writing.

Dr. Dawkins attended Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC. In addition to building a successful medical practice in general medicine, pediatrics, and geriatrics, he also served as Chief of Staff for Bertie Memorial Hospital.
